How to read a feelings question

A "how do they feel" question is answered by the card's emotional register, not by a yes or no. Three of Swords describes the mood and the direction of what the other person carries — read it as a snapshot of the connection now, and let the position of the card in your spread (their feelings, their intentions, the near future) sharpen what it refers to.

Three of Swords as feelings, upright

In love it speaks of breakup, disillusionment, or words that cut deep. Allow yourself to grieve without taking all the blame. You will come through this wound too — with a wiser heart, not necessarily a more closed one.

Three of Swords as feelings, reversed

Reversed, the card keeps its theme but turns it inward, blocks it or delays it — read the reversed meaning below through that lens.

Reversed, it means the wound is starting to close: the pain eases and forgiveness becomes possible. It can also warn of pain suppressed rather than healed. Put down the sword: you no longer have to hold it.
