In love it calls for clarity and standards: you know what you deserve and won't accept less. It can represent an independent person shaped by the past. Caution protects, but leave a small opening for tenderness.

Reversed, the card keeps its theme but turns it inward, blocks it or delays it — read the reversed meaning below through that lens.

Reversed, it warns that clarity has turned to coldness and experience to bitterness. Constant criticism pushes away those who might come close. The armor that once protected you has grown too heavy: not everyone comes to hurt you.
