How to read a feelings question

A "how do they feel" question is answered by the card's emotional register, not by a yes or no. Five of Swords describes the mood and the direction of what the other person carries — read it as a snapshot of the connection now, and let the position of the card in your spread (their feelings, their intentions, the near future) sharpen what it refers to.

Five of Swords as feelings, upright

In love it points to arguments where pride outweighs affection: someone wins the fight and both lose the peace. If every conversation is combat, change the rules of the game. No one can embrace holding swords.

Five of Swords as feelings, reversed

Reversed, the card keeps its theme but turns it inward, blocks it or delays it — read the reversed meaning below through that lens.

Reversed, it opens the door to reconciliation: the conflict runs out of fuel and releasing resentment becomes possible. Owning your part is not losing. The peace arriving now is worth more than the point you were defending.
