How to read a feelings question

A "how do they feel" question is answered by the card's emotional register, not by a yes or no. Nine of Swords describes the mood and the direction of what the other person carries — read it as a snapshot of the connection now, and let the position of the card in your spread (their feelings, their intentions, the near future) sharpen what it refers to.

Nine of Swords as feelings, upright

In love it reflects fears and worst-case scenarios that may exist only in your head: jealousy, insecurity, or guilt that won't rest. Talk before assuming. Most nightmares don't survive an honest conversation.

Nine of Swords as feelings, reversed

Reversed, the card keeps its theme but turns it inward, blocks it or delays it — read the reversed meaning below through that lens.

Reversed, it announces relief: the anxiety loosens, you regain perspective, or you finally seek the support you needed. The worst of the night has passed. Be patient with yourself as calm returns.
