Five of Cups as feelings
How to read a feelings question
A "how do they feel" question is answered by the card's emotional register, not by a yes or no. Five of Cups describes the mood and the direction of what the other person carries — read it as a snapshot of the connection now, and let the position of the card in your spread (their feelings, their intentions, the near future) sharpen what it refers to.
Five of Cups as feelings, upright
In love it speaks of heartbreak, a breakup, or longing for what could have been. The pain is real, but it isn't the whole story. Don't let one loss convince you that love is over for you.
Five of Cups as feelings, reversed
Reversed, the card keeps its theme but turns it inward, blocks it or delays it — read the reversed meaning below through that lens.
Reversed, it marks the start of recovery: you accept the loss, forgive, and look forward again. The grieving is completing itself. Give yourself credit for every step out of sorrow.
