How Noviluna calculates
Noviluna draws a hard line between what is calculated and what is interpreted. The positions of the stars come from deterministic astronomical ephemerides; the interpretation comes from a doctrine base with cited sources; and the AI only writes and personalises — it never invents either. This page explains each piece.
Astronomical calculations: ephemerides, not AI
Every planetary position (Sun, Moon, planets, Chiron and the Lunar Node), the signs, houses and aspects are computed with precision astronomical ephemerides, deterministically: the same birth data always yields the same result. The language model never calculates or estimates a position.
Houses use the Placidus system when the birth time is known. Without a time, Noviluna does not invent an ascendant or houses: the chart is shown without them, and says so openly.
Doctrine with cited sources
Astrological, tarot and numerology interpretation comes from a knowledge base curated from reference works, with the source cited on every entry. The AI cannot "opine" new doctrine: it can only build on what the knowledge base documents.
Every evergreen content page (retrogrades, tarot cards, signs, houses, compatibility) names the source its doctrine comes from.
What the AI does — and what it never does
The language model does two things: it writes (turning calculation + doctrine into clear, warm text) and it personalises (relating the doctrine to your specific chart and context). It does not predict the future, does not generate doctrine of its own, and does not calculate positions.
In line with the EU AI Act, Noviluna always discloses that you are talking to an artificial intelligence. Details are on the AI transparency page.
Deliberate limits (guardrails)
Noviluna makes no predictions about health, pregnancy, death or investments — ever, even if asked. When signals of personal crisis appear, the guide drops the mystical frame and points to real professional help. Noviluna is an entertainment and self-knowledge service, for ages 16 and up.
Continuous evaluation
Each language has a gold-set of test cases that runs on every model or prompt change; a regression blocks the deploy. Blog articles additionally pass an automatic editorial critic that only publishes when the article meets its criteria for doctrine, citations and clarity.
Honest freshness
The horoscopes (daily, weekly, monthly) are generated each day from the real planetary positions of that date. Evergreen content is reviewed periodically, and its updated date only changes when the content genuinely changes.

Does the AI make up the horoscope?
No. Planetary positions are computed with deterministic astronomical ephemerides, and interpretation comes from doctrine with cited sources. The AI only writes and personalises that material; it neither calculates positions nor generates doctrine of its own.
Where does the astrology and tarot doctrine come from?

Why does Noviluna refuse to answer some questions?
By design: it never makes predictions about health, pregnancy, death or investments, and when crisis signals appear it points to professional help. Better not to advise than to advise badly.
