How it is calculated

Planet positions, signs and houses are computed with high-precision astronomical ephemerides, deterministically: the same birth data always gives the same result. Tropical zodiac and Placidus houses.

The birth place matters: it sets the time zone and the coordinates, which give the Rising sign and the houses. Without a birth time, Noviluna does not invent a Rising sign or houses: the chart is shown without them, and says so.

The interpretation comes from a doctrine base with cited sources. The AI writes and personalises the explanation; it never calculates a position.

Is the birth chart on Noviluna really free?

What do I need to calculate my birth chart?

Your birth date, time and place. The date gives the Sun and the planets; the time and place set the Rising sign and the houses, which change every few minutes.

Can I calculate it without my birth time?

Yes. You will see the Sun, the Moon and the planets by sign, but not the Rising sign or the houses: they cannot be calculated without a time, and Noviluna does not make them up. If you find out your time later, you can add it in your account and the chart is recalculated.

What is the difference between a birth chart and a natal chart?

None: they are two names for the same thing, the map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born — where the Sun, the Moon and the planets were, in which sign and in which house.

Does AI calculate the chart?

No. Positions come from deterministic astronomical ephemerides, as in any serious astrology software. The AI only writes the explanation, based on doctrine with cited sources.
