Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio from October 24 to November 13, 2026. To explore this transit through your birth chart, start with your rising sign. The table below shows which whole-sign house contains Scorpio and the topics traditionally associated with that house. It does not predict what will happen to you.

What Mercury retrograde means
Seen from Earth, Mercury appears to move backwards against the background of stars for part of its journey. The planet does not reverse its orbit. In astrological tradition, Mercury represents thinking, learning, messages and exchanges. Retrograde periods are interpreted as an invitation to revisit work already underway.
You might use that symbolism to reread a message, return to an unfinished project or check a date. These are reflection prompts, not demonstrated planetary effects on your decisions. There is no need to put your life on hold or wait for an astrological date to deal with an important matter.
Why your rising sign matters here
Your rising sign, also called the ascendant, is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. Calculating it requires your time and place of birth as well as the date. It is different from the Sun sign you usually read in a horoscope.
This guide uses whole-sign houses. The entire rising sign is house 1, the following sign is house 2, and the sequence continues through all twelve. Astrodienst describes this method in its house-system overview. We count from your rising sign to Scorpio, including both.
This is a general reference. A chart calculated with another house system can place the same degrees in a different house. The table is not a substitute for reading the chart and may not match every house division displayed in it.
Mercury retrograde for all 12 rising signs
Look up your rising sign, not your Sun sign. The final column contains editorial questions based on traditional house topics, not predictions.
| Rising sign | Scorpio in house | Topic and reflection prompt |
|---|---|---|
| Aries | 8 | Shared resources and trust. Which agreement needs to be clearer? |
| Taurus | 7 | Partnerships and agreements. Which conversation deserves more patient listening? |
| Gemini | 6 | Routines and daily work. Which task could you organise to reduce misunderstandings? |
| Cancer | 5 | Creativity and enjoyment. Which unfinished idea would you like to revisit? |
| Leo | 4 | Home and roots. Which household conversation needs time and space? |
| Virgo | 3 | Communication and learning. Which message, note or date needs another check? |
| Libra | 2 | Personal resources and values. Which everyday commitment still fits you? |
| Scorpio | 1 | Identity and self-presentation. How do you want to express what you need? |
| Sagittarius | 12 | Retreat and inner life. Which thought would help to put into words? |
| Capricorn | 11 | Friends and shared projects. Does everyone understand the group's expectations? |
| Aquarius | 10 | Vocation and public presence. Which introduction or profile needs editing? |
| Pisces | 9 | Study, travel and perspectives. Which plan or idea deserves more information? |
For example, with Taurus rising, Scorpio is the seventh sign counted from Taurus. This guide therefore connects it with house 7 and its partnership topics. That does not mean a breakup will happen or someone from the past will return.
