Strength and Death together in a reading
How to read them together
Two cards together don't simply add up: they qualify each other. In a spread, Strength and Death are read by each card's position (what question each answers) and by which comes first: the first sets the theme and the second refines, reinforces or challenges it. Read each card on its own first — both cited meanings are below — then ask what story they tell in that order.
What Strength means
Strength is not about force, but gentle mastery. You have the courage and patience to handle this without violence or haste. Your power lies in calm and compassion.
What Death means
Death almost never speaks of physical death: it announces the necessary end of one chapter so another can begin. Something is ending, and though letting go hurts, it makes room for a more authentic life. This is deep transformation.
The combination in love
Strength in love: In love it speaks of a bond strengthened through patience and tenderness. Intense passions can be channeled well. Treat your partner — and yourself — with firm kindness.
Death in love: In love it marks the close of a dynamic or a relationship that has run its course. If the couple continues, it must be reborn on new foundations. Release what no longer lives so love can breathe.
